Chain Hung
What happens to the military chain of command in a hung parliament in the UK?
I am referring specifically to the very top of the chain, Chief of General Staff, that sort of level. Is this a similar situation as what happens whenever Parliament is dissolved for an election, and if so, what is this process?
In the event of a hung parliament, the incumbent prime minister retains the office until a coalition between the remaining parties is formed and a new prime minister is elected.
A similar situation exists when parliament is dissolved for an election, the incumbent PM retains his post until a new one is elected, the military chain of command stays the same in either event.
