Chandelier Lamp
I have an old swag lamp with corded plug that I would like to re-wire or hard wire to use as a chandelier.?
How difficult is it to hard wire and hang from the ceiling box that's there? Should I just take it to a lamp store? or can a amateur with no electrical experience get it done?- thanx!
Oh and did I mention this is an old circa 50s lamp so the cord has to be replaced anyway its in pretty bad shape.
The color coding will be a problem - the fixture cord is probably the translucent gold or silver toned two conductor cable. Feel the sides of the cable - one side will have a molded-in ridge. This will be the neutral which connects to the white ceiling wire. The smooth side of the cable is the "hot" which connects to the black wire.
