How to fit a Pendant Light in new house??
Hi I need to replace the current light (original) with a new pendant light (hanging down ball like thing). How should I go about it?
kill the power at your electical panel for the area of the house you are working on.
remove the glass covering the light bulbs...
you should see 2 screws going into the ceiling, undo them a bit so you can twist the light and pull it down.. you'll see what I mean when you are looking at it.
there will be likely 3 wires, or 3 groups of wires depending on how your light is wired, whether it is wired to other lights etc.
there's white, (neutral)
Black (LIVE POWER)
and either a bare copper or green depending (ground)
they are likely marretted together with your Light Fixture.
remove the marettes by twisting them.
TIP- when you take the marette off, and separate the wires, twist the marette back on the same wires so you #1 have it to connect your pendant light, and 2, keep any group of wires together.
the wires for your pendant light should be the same colors, white, black and copper. but read the directions, so you know how to put the fixture together, and hook them up.. white to white, black to black and ground to ground on the box..
then put the pendant to the ceiling as per the installation directions...
turn the power back on and give yourself a pat on the back.
